Film: the anniversary vigil for Ian Tomlinson

Award winning film director Bill Maloney and his courageous camera woman Lilly Starr join the grieving family of Ian Tomlinson to pay their respects on the anniversary of his death. Ian Tomlinson was innocently making his way home from work through the G20 protests in London on 1 April 2009. Videos and CCTV footage showed an unprovoked assault on Mr Tomlinson by a police officer striking him from behind with a baton, then proceeding to thrust him, also from behind, pushing him with force to the ground. The police made no attempt to help Mr Tomlinson. He died shortly afterwards on the pavement in the street. Bill Maloney exposes the fear that Ian's family have of speaking out against the Establishment - which is corroborated by Ian Tomlinson's son Paul in this video.

Interviews are held with supporters: Anna Bragga (The Green Party), Raj Ullah (Brother of police victim Habib 'Paps' Ullah) and Paul King, son of Ian Tomlinson, bringing this tragic story up to date.

Bill Maloney's aggressive presentation style will not be everyone's cup of tea, but it makes a change from the coverage (or lack of it) of these issues elsewhere. You can find more controversial and thought provoking documentaries by the same director at Pie and Mash films.

I feel sorry for Ian's family. It shows that in the UK depending on who does the crime Law treats you different. Who is hiding the Police officer who killed Ian, Police hide behind there uniform and look out for each other but this is a common thing in the UK, I also look at jean charles de menezes
who was killed by police and nothing went on there to
prosecute the Gunman that shot him. This will happen again and its no wonder why there is a anti-police growing in the UK as justice is selective and if you work for the state the state will protect you.

I guess the met police will wait the 30 years to stop Ian's family getting justice as they met have done before.

If Police kill innocent people then people should attack police like Moat did! Look how sorry people are for him and the picture of him in bed with blood over him. Lets have the same pictures of people police killed unlike the cop that got hurt he still lives unlike pigs killing people. it makes me hate the pigs and the ipcc dont do anything
